Of Coconuts and Banana Leaf

Holla people,

It has been a long time since my last post. There is no time at all or if there is, I have no energy left to do any blogging. There is so much I would like to share from all that is happening.

Again, this is going to be a pictureless post on food.So I will try my best to describe from my memory and why not you go give it a try?

1. Sangkaya Bangsar
Opened in June in a tiny slot near Coffee Coffea (KK Mart row), who ever thought someone can be so nuts about coconuts? I tried out the specials, coconut ice cream serve in fragrant coconut shell and coconut milkshake.I pretty like it, you can taste the coconut and it is not too sweet.Best thing is , you can be assured they are using fresh coconuts.

Price:
Specials :RM10+
Coconut MilkShakes

I would not say it is a cheap indulgence but at least it tastes good. I would probably go back for the ice cream not so much on the milkshakes

Judgement above maybe biased as I love coconuts to begin with.*grins*

2.Raj Banana Leaf

Banana leaf craze seems to be growing again .Take a stroll around Bangsar Baru, there are at least 4 shops that serve Banana Leaf.

What is your definition of a good banana leaf?

For me, I would love if it comes with a good dhaal, bitter gourds fried to the crunchy perfection and I like my rice banjir!

A little background, prior to this ,the 'Canadian Fried Chicken Shop '  operating at that lot had really bad business. One can count the number of customers with your hand. For a fried chicken shop, they did terribly, the chicken had no crunch in it, the ambiance was just not there. There was just no hope.Shops that open there always seem to close down.
So when I saw it was under renovation, and i saw people shifting in those silver trolleys, I thought it was going to be a mixed rice shop and then the sign came up 'Raj Banana Leaf'

Cut short, the waiter that serve us was extremely helpful ,the shop was clean ,bright and the food was okay too. The banana leaf came in three sides, he did not serve us the bittergourd  but when I ask him for it , he gladly brought it for us , it was burnt .( I guess that was why).

Nevertheless, everything else was okay, the fried chicken wasn't dry like most fried chicken served at mamaks, the side dishes was acceptable . I certainly would not mind substituting this for Nirwana (Sorry Nirwana Fans)

The service is 10x better than ever-flooding Nirwana and a little chat with the waiter, he mentioned that the boss is a Chinese and that he is always comes around at the shop.I am not too sure how true is this.I might have heard wrongly.

I guess I am  not the only one who thinks that this is a pretty decent mamak as everytime I pass by it is always pack.So stop drooling and get your bum there to try=D
