Holla people,
It has been a long time since my last post. There is no time at all or if there is, I have no energy left to do any blogging. There is so much I would like to share from all that is happening.
Again, this is going to be a pictureless post on food.So I will try my best to describe from my memory and why not you go give it a try?
1. Sangkaya Bangsar
Opened in June in a tiny slot near Coffee Coffea (KK Mart row), who ever thought someone can be so nuts about coconuts? I tried out the specials, coconut ice cream serve in fragrant coconut shell and coconut milkshake.I pretty like it, you can taste the coconut and it is not too sweet.Best thing is , you can be assured they are using fresh coconuts.
Price:
Specials :RM10+
Coconut MilkShakes
I would not say it is a cheap indulgence but at least it tastes good. I would probably go back for the ice cream not so much on the milkshakes
Judgement above maybe biased as I love coconuts to begin with.*grins*
2.Raj Banana Leaf
Banana leaf craze seems to be growing again .Take a stroll around Bangsar Baru, there are at least 4 shops that serve Banana Leaf.
What is your definition of a good banana leaf?
For me, I would love if it comes with a good dhaal, bitter gourds fried to the crunchy perfection and I like my rice banjir!
A little background, prior to this ,the 'Canadian Fried Chicken Shop ' operating at that lot had really bad business. One can count the number of customers with your hand. For a fried chicken shop, they did terribly, the chicken had no crunch in it, the ambiance was just not there. There was just no hope.Shops that open there always seem to close down.
So when I saw it was under renovation, and i saw people shifting in those silver trolleys, I thought it was going to be a mixed rice shop and then the sign came up 'Raj Banana Leaf'
Cut short, the waiter that serve us was extremely helpful ,the shop was clean ,bright and the food was okay too. The banana leaf came in three sides, he did not serve us the bittergourd but when I ask him for it , he gladly brought it for us , it was burnt .( I guess that was why).
Nevertheless, everything else was okay, the fried chicken wasn't dry like most fried chicken served at mamaks, the side dishes was acceptable . I certainly would not mind substituting this for Nirwana (Sorry Nirwana Fans)
The service is 10x better than ever-flooding Nirwana and a little chat with the waiter, he mentioned that the boss is a Chinese and that he is always comes around at the shop.I am not too sure how true is this.I might have heard wrongly.
I guess I am not the only one who thinks that this is a pretty decent mamak as everytime I pass by it is always pack.So stop drooling and get your bum there to try=D

How to buy happiness with money.
Every now and then ,during stress moments and days , I would visit one of the beauty saloons in Bangsar. Whoever said money cant buy happiness is a dumbo.I would say money can buy at least 80% of happiness.
Well , I used to visit Panmi Beauty Saloon and one day they just shifted.Yes they shifted to the same row as Devi's Corner. But I stop visiting them to do my nails after that.
I ventured. Do you know travelling is every human being's nature. We were nomads last time, we are born to travel and explore. We are all little Doras and Diegos!
Tried out 3 other nail saloons.
1.Sommerset Nails & Waxing Bangsar Baru
This looks like a fancy place to get your nails ,waxing etc done. Came here cause everywhere else was full or closed. Cosy atmosphere.I did normal pedi, watched astro while waited for my nails to dry.Standard price. Asked if I would like to sign up for packages which I politely declined.
Its alright.
2.OPI Nail Saloon ( McD 's Row)
Visited here a couple of times, often did mani and pedi for rm75,occasional threading/waxing.
I would call this the FRIENDS manipedi place cause they play endless episodes of F.R.I.E.N.D.S on their TV and I would sit down and watch a few episodes while getting my nails done.
Their service was always satisfactory except the last visit during Christmas where I wanted to get a nail art done.It was 7 bucks per finger, and I wanted little snow man on the fourth. She did not do a good job on the nail art.
Expectation
Reality

3.Glitters Nails ( Bangsar Village 2)
Pretty cramp up. They did my nails in a rush and I didn't like that. I paid for the service to feel like I am being pampered .On the plus side, they do have tv and price is quite reasonable .
Tried out 2 massage parlors
1.Zouk Spa,Bangsar Baru.
- Cheap (1 1/2 hours for MYR 90 bucks +/-)
- Masseuse from China/Thailand ,Man/Woman
- Dodgy looking
- Fairly good massage
- Lotion used to massage
- Pain Level - 2/10
2.Thai Odyssey ,Bangsar Village
- Cracks your bones,joints
- 1 hour is more than enough
- No oil/lotion used
- Around MYR 100 per hour per person(5% off for HSBC card holders)
- Feels lighter in person after massage
- Pain level:8/10
All these cost money and make us feel better doesn't it?

Roost KL
So many new restaurants opened recently ,I do not know which one to even try .So the menu and ambience plays an important role in my decision.
Stumbled upon this place last Christmas ,the person who greeted us was super friendly, they had a Christmas meal menu prepared and it sounds great, but thinking it was too expensive, we opted for somewhere else.
We came back during New Year's Eve though. This place is not new ,formally known as F by Buffalo 's Kitchen and is now known as Roost .Same management ,different concept. Located opposite Bangsar Village right above Chawan.
I have never visited F by Buffalo 's Kitchen as it looks less inviting. Roost on the other hand looks more inviting with chicken feet prints on their stairways and a beautiful mural painting greets you as you walk up the stairs.
I cant recall the whole menu but we ordered
Starters
Apple-wood smoked free ranged duck breast (Not much of a duck fan, but this has got to be one of the nicest duck I have tasted. Simply delicious. I cant get over the texture and taste of the duck)
Humus ( The humus comes with fresh, hot bread and this is also one of my favorites! The bread served wasn't those soft kind , but the ones hard outside and soft inside. It was so good, I asked for another serving of bread)

Mains
Burger(the special one) (The burger was okay, fries was good, patty was good, but didn't quite get the sauce that it was serve with)
Lamb Ragout (Not a lamb person but it was okay too)
Dessert
Chocolate Lava Cake (Yes,and now I benchmark this against every other chocolate lava cake I try. I love this because its slightly more bitter and the chocolate sauce is hot when its served, the kind of hot that is just nice ) Def a comfort food !I want more!
*Please take note that the names of the dishes ordered is not the same as their menu as I have horrible ,terrible memory. But you get the idea right.
TWO WORDS.Awesome Food!
I will definitely come back again, maybe next time I will try their fried frog legs.
