Alarming crime rate at Bangsar

Today while accompanying my mom to cut her hair at Cut N Go, Bangsar Village, I learned from the Hair stylist that Home Minister Datuk Seri Tun Hishamuddin annouced that Malaysia has been recognised the safest country in South East Asia and 19th safest in the world . Curious , I googled and true enough there is an article on this in The Star  newspaper.

Of course as a Malaysian, I am happy that my country got such recognition, but then why do not I feel safe walking on the streets in Bangsar?

Just so you know ,it is claimed our environment is safer than Singapore's.True or not,I am sure we all know what is it like here.

Just yesterday when my friend told me that one of the people I used to work with got robbed near Bangsar Shopping Complex and also at the same area, someone else got robbed. Also, the hairstylist who was cutting my mom's hair injured the ligaments near her elbow as she refused to let go of her bag when she got robbed  by a man in the morning at Jalan Terasek 4 yesterday. She even ran and chased after him only stopping because she saw a car going after the robber only to learn that the driver is his side-kick and has parangs in the car.

Robbers these days not only carry a 'parang' with them, but also acid water to splash at you. What is wrong with robbers these days? Is this a robbers evolution? Are we suppose to wear face mask  and space suits out now since acids are being thrown here and there like holy water by those insecure, selfish asshole robbers and criminals?

I find it sad that most of the people these days do not give a shit to strangers, and seriously, who can blame them? I remember back in 2005,i was working in a shop at Bangsar Village .It was my first time talking and to pass time,i enjoy chitchatting with customers to burn time.

Then there was this man, till today i remember how he look like. A Chinese man, a little bald, wears a polo shirt and 3/4 khakis ,claims to be a Nokia Manager  whom just came back from overseas and needed a 3G phone to contact his friend at BSC.He also claim to have gastric. He came in my shop, and picked a few things out for his niece and ask if I could help him get a hot drink. Being 15 and naive, i agreed. He took out a big stack of rm50 notes and handed one to me .

I am sure you know the ending of the story. I came back to a shop with money missing from petty cash and my phone  and my friend's gone. The funny thing was i believed he was going to come back.

and of course he never did.

People said i got 'bomoh' by him, because thinking back,no matter how naive and stupid I was,I would never had left the shop and go get him a drink.

I thank my lucky stars he did not steal anything from the shop but also dread that i had to work for free for the next one month paying back rm800+ i owed to the shop.

my good deed turned into a lesson I will never forget.

Never judge a book by its cover.

Bangsar Village is full of friendly and nice people, but there are also many crooks like him ( according to Bangsar Village Security after reporting the case) who try to get money the easy way. But like they said, whatever comes in easily, goes out easily too. I hope that man is in jail now.

The question here now is should we help strangers in distress?I received many emails reporting about criminal's new tactics. Some of it is when they cover their hands in red paint making it look bloody .They will then knock on your car window for help, and once you get down from the car,you can say bye bye to your belongings and be thankful if that is the only thing they took, and not your life.

But,what if someone is really injured and we just drive away like that?

Hence, this is why people these days are actually feeling unsure on whether they should help someone who is being robbed or kidnapped because we might get into deep shit by helping.

Back to the situation in Bangsar, I am sure that all residents of Bangsar is clearly aware of the ridiculous amount of people in blue suits and motorbikes holding a machine and leaving a 'love letter  on your car. Yes,I am talking about our police officers in charge of giving summons to road offenders.

Bangsar Baru being always crowded with people and cars,it is really difficult to find parking during lunch hours or dinner time.It is wrong to block the road or park illegally, however there are just one too many of them in one area. During lunch time, i think you can spot at least 4 of those officers easily.

Sometimes, they even issue a summon to a person waiting in a car less than a minute ,and they stuck the freaking summon at the back of your car ,not having the freaking guts and courage to put it at the front. I am really curious,do these police officers have a competition on who issue the most summons?SERIOUSLY?

I am not creating stories, this really happened to me,my mom was dropping me off to work at LA SCALA (It is opposite Guardian) at Telawi Street and she wanted me to unlock the door and ensure that i get in safely before she drove off.So she waited at the yellow line in the car.Not once but twice, the screwed up police gave her a summon at the back. What is wrong with your eyes, you stupid police?

The reason why I brought this issue up is to highlight to all of us how responsible and active is the police in Malaysia( okay,at least in Bangsar,I do not know about the rest of Malaysia) when it comes to doing petty things like summons . Why cannot they be on duty to protect us like what police often dream of doing.like protect the citizens from these looney tunes?I am aware there are numbers to call police near your area, but when it comes to moments like  these, not all of us are capable of thinking what to do and actually call the police, worst, what if our phone is in the bag that was snatch?

It would be nice for a change if the police are actually on their bikes with loaded guns making rounds to ensure that everyone is able to live in worry-free state and a peaceful country.

They should cut down summoning and delegate the duty of making sure robbers are not ruling the country,or do they just turn a deaf ear and close one eye and be happy that Datuk Seri Tun Hishamuddin praise them for being committed and dedicated police officers?

Dear people,if our police is just doing all the talking and no action, when encounter such situation, just let your precious hand bag go when a robber comes ,do not struggle,do not hold back, just give him your bag, your life is more precious than all things inside there.
