BURP at Bangsar Shopping Complex

When Bangsar Shopping Centre also known as BSC started promoting this place called BURP( asian's food gallery) last year with all the posters along the road and even a free shuttle bus leading to this place. The first thing that pops into my mind is that how this place will definitely burn a hole in my pocket.

A recent visit to BURP proves that we should never judge a book by its cover. Burp is a food court offering a variety of food, such as thailand, malay, chinese and even mamak food. This place is spacious and is not crowded with people.

Every BURP customer will get a card at the entrance which we will need to present when placing order.

Surprisingly ,  the food here is of average pricing.A plate of sizzling clay pot yee mee will cost RM6-7,and for the rest of the food the price range is around RM7-10 and for a fancy place like this, we do not need to pay for tax. However,i find the Yong Too Foo there really costly.

I tried the rojak at the mamak stall, looks appetizing but it is just bad.

My friends and I fell in love with this place not because of the great food( The food is so-so only) but because of the board games we get to play for free of charge. BURP has a very interesting food-court concept, there is a shelf on the left upon entrance which is fill with board games like CLUEDO,LIFE,UNO,RISK and MONOPOLY.

 We were hooked

Our frequent  and long visits there was because of the board games. All you have to do is write down your name before playing it.

At BURP, you can also charge your phones, there is a transparent shelf with locks filled with chargers for all sorts of phone and also free Wi-Fi access to all .

Overall? This place provides great entertainment(for those who like board and card games) and services . If you are looking for food that taste like heaven, this is not the place for you,but if you just want to hang out and catch up at BSC,this is the cheapest place to go.=)

Pammi Beauty Saloon

Few posts back,I mentioned about Pammi Beauty Saloon and how it is one of the best beauty saloons in Bangsar. I went back there for Chinese New Year and grab a few pictures for our eyes to feast.( of course with the permission of the manager)

Located beside Svensen's and below a tuition centre-Mr.Tan

As i sat down waiting for my sister to be done, customers keep walking in the door, mostly demanding for mani/pedi services and threading. No doubt,Pammi is gaining popularity, even tourist came for their services.

If you notice,Pammi saloon is pretty spacious as it offers many services. To be precise, the room is divided into three sections; manicure and pedicure, threading and waxing and etc ,and also a hair saloon.

Sofas for people waiting.

Area for threading/waxing
OPI Nail colour collection
         Hope the pictures helps=)

The Fast Food Library

The McDonalds at Bangsar Baru is just like any other McDonald's franchise in Malaysia. It was one of the longest-lasting fast food restaurant at Bangsar Baru, My sister had her  10th birthday there ,back then, they had this big playground and a merry- go- round.

Here at Bangsar, you still get the same burgers, the same french fries and of course the absolutely crazy long que during lunch hours.

There is only one exception,McDonalds at Bangsar Baru was like  a home to me and many others .Today, it still is like a home to some.

I do not know who came up with the idea of studying in a fast food restaurant  because if you were to step into MCD's during the weekdays around noon, you will notice that the upper floor is colonize by students ,mostly secondary school students and a couple of university students.

Back when I was still in secondary school,my friends and I often hang out at McDonalds after school for lunch ,chitchat and also studied there till evening before we head home.It was the perfect place for us.The food was cheap, the environment was just nice-noisy but not too noisy like a market and not too quiet like a library, the music by McD FM was pleasing to our ears and best of all-free coke refills!
On a quiet Saturday Morning

And the tradition went on, we stayed there for long hours and only buying a coke to share among us.A friend of mine even stayed over the night to study there. There was once, when I was in Form 5 ,we did not have a venue to have our home tuition and yeah, you can pretty much guess where we ended having our tuition.

When i was in college ,my friends and I went to McD's again to have discussion as we were going to sit for exams soon. No surprise,we bump into few other people from the same college who decided that preparing for exams at the most inspiring place ever-McDonalds.

While we were there, there was this man,who walk pass us,searching for a place to sit but only to realize it is fill with people with books and pens on the table, and he said. "Is this a library or what?"

To some adults, like my mom, they just cannot comprehend the idea of studying at a fast food restaurant. There are people eating, chatting, music is in the background and now they even have TVs,this place just does not spell out as an ideal place to study.

But to us,students, it is our library without the 'silence please' sign.

Today,I no longer go there to study as sometimes it gets too noisy with children screaming at the top of their lungs  at the mini playground.

Nevertheless, whenever I do go to McD to grab a bite, without fail, there are always students with books and laptops on the table ,one hand grabbing a bite of their burger, the other holding a pencil.Heaven isn't it? =)
